You know how it goes—September usually brings plenty of work. That’s true for us, and of course, it’s no different for farmers. To see how our clients imagine farm work, we put together a themed competitive program for a group of 150 guests. The comfortable Demänová Resort, situated at the foot of the Low Tatras, provided the perfect setting for both a conference and a farm challenge spread over two days.

The afternoon program, designed as a “farmer’s initiation,” transported participants to a village setting where they had to help grandma with household chores while still finding time for fun. A must-have accessory for every team captain was the traditional apron, which surprisingly became a popular part of the outfit—many wore it happily well into the evening hours. And that’s exactly how we like it.

After the usual division into colour-coded teams, the first joint activity was building a fence. Contestants turned out to be fairly skilled carpenters, and gradually everyone managed to cut and nail the boards into the desired shape. The teams then rotated through several stations across the grounds, where there was no avoiding some real farm work. To encourage healthy competition, we set things up as duels. They rolled hay bales, changed feather duvets, wrung laundry, raced with wheelbarrows, and even tried slingshot shooting—which many had probably thought would be easy until they tried it.

At every station, teams diligently collected points, and all of them did a great job. Grandma would likely have praised them all, but this time, the praise came from us. For the winners, we prepared a basket of farm delicacies, including some delicious pieces from this year’s harvest. After the evaluation, participants enjoyed free-time activities arranged by Demänová Resort. And the fun didn’t stop in the evening either—once we wrapped up the official programme, the dance floor opened, and we believe it stayed lively until the early morning hours.
