The craft of a true winemaker lies in many things that, as ordinary consumers, we often have no idea about. Together with our long-standing client, we dove into the secrets of winemaking and wine care right in the vineyards of the picturesque Moravia region—and at the perfect time of harvest. This pleasant, several-hour program not only fulfilled its purpose as a teambuilding activity but also achieved an unexpected educational dimension. It received (and we believe still enjoys) very positive feedback and proved to be a truly well-balanced, tailor-made combination of activities. You already know the outcome and the final impressions, but let’s first take a look at the process itself.

The setting of the renowned Vinařství U Kapličky in Moravian Zaječí offered a charming hotel complex surrounded by vineyards—a perfectly equipped resort where the group could enjoy both privacy and plenty of space for activities. Our September day was blessed with beautiful weather, which made the outdoor part of the program all the more enjoyable. After a quick check-in, lunch, and settling in, participants warmed up with a maxi-puzzle challenge. This playful start got everyone energised and gave them one last chance to soak in the sunshine before heading underground.

Although the weather was excellent, the main program took place in the atmospheric wine cellars, where Czech colleagues from FUN MORAVA led the teams through seven different winemaking stations. Here, participants had to put their wine knowledge to the test—and learn along the way. From pipetting to bottling, designing their own wine labels, handling authentic winemaking tools, and even seriously ordering the steps of vineyard work, the teams tackled challenges that tested their senses, skills, accuracy, and sometimes sheer strength. They sang traditional songs related to wine harvest or wine consumption, danced, and fully immersed themselves in the cellar’s unique charm, which made it easy for anyone to feel like a wine expert, if only for a moment.

After completing all activities, the newly minted winemakers emerged from the underground cellars cheerful and eager for the final results. The top three teams were awarded treasure chests filled with local treats, a prize they could later enjoy along with the abundant wine available throughout the evening.

Before handing the entertainment over to its most qualified hosts—the guests themselves—we managed to squeeze in a group-favourite quiz, which is always a must with this crowd. Once again, unbeatable winners were crowned, prizes were handed out, and satisfaction was visible on both sides. Nothing remained for us but to head back to Bratislava, though we are certain this was not our last step into the world of winemaking.
